I am getting ready to start the process of putting a 7.3 out of an 1988 f350 in to my 1968 truck. Befor i pull the motor out i am going to try to get it running (has not moved in 5 years) an see what kind shap the motor is in. The truck has been in the faimly with 144k on it i dont thik it needs a major overhaul just a slight tune up. It has not lost any fluids so i think it a good donor truck. i am pulling the hole drive train for the swap. I was planing on checking each cylinder pressure just like a gas motor and was not sure what a good number for it?

My thoughts are anything around 450 and above is fine. My rebuild makes 530 lbs of cranking pressure. You will need a compression gauge with a 1000 lbs gauge on it. Also the hose is a special heavy duty hose. One used for a gas engine will not hold the pressure and is unsafe to try to use..
