Water pump clearance?

Put my new water pump on today and noticed the bottom is super close to the crank, I believe. Anyone run into this with aftermarket. All the bolts went in smooth and the gasket lined up nice. Thoughts?

I don't have an IDI to compare, but that looks concerning. I'd not run it like that...

What's the old pump look like there? Has the outer ring on the damper shifted on the rubber? excessive crank endplay?

I lifted it up and got clearance.
Seems good now, I think I just let it hang to much when putting the first few bolts in.
