water in fuel light

My 92 ford 7.3 The water in fuel light came on I drained fuel at the filter didn't work I'm sure theres something else to try but I don't know what, so I'm going to the experts.... Thanks in advance!!!

Change the entire filter. That would probably be the best thing to do. I never drain the filter off I just replace it.

I drain the water every month even tho the WIF light don't come on, and I know it works - it's a cheap insurance against problems on the road.

The sensor is on the bottom of the sediment bowl that's screwed onto the bottom of the filter - the filter has both ends open, the filter head goes on the top end and the sediment bowl on the bottom. Make sure the wire for the sensor hasn't fallen off and ain't just laying around there on something metal, as that will trip the WIF light.
