Very productive day

The last couple days i have been sanding and cleaning and painting my Dana 60 that i picked up last week for my pickup. Today was the day my truck was finally taken off diapers (IFS drop brackets) and moved up to the big boys!

Got the axle under there and the drivers side put back together. along with changing out my old rubber brake lines for some SS ones.

The PO cut my passenger side lower leaf bracket and track bar bracket off with a torch. So im waiting to get my track bar that i ordered in so i can bolt it all back up and weld it in the right place. All in all i still have all my finger and limbs and had a great day!

Nice to see things moving along... Your block stack under the jack stands worries me. It would make for a much more stable paltform if you crossed the 2x8 and built it up from there.

lol both rear wheels are chocked and as with anytime i put a truck in the air i rocked the truck back and forth very had.. she isnt going anywhere! Thanks for the looking out though!

Well today was the finishing day! The FedEx man brought me my track bar and drop bracket to bolt to the frame. I used that to position my lower u bolt bracket and got that welded back on. Put the diff cover back on and got a little carried away with the goop but o well. Put all new steering link bars on and did the best we could with the alignment. Bled the brakes and wala!!! Dana 60 is in and done! The turning radias is 1000000 times better than my 50. That alone was well worth it! Very happy with the outcome and all i need to do it get an alignment.

Nice From what I understand, most people are pleasantly surprised when a D60 replaces ttb.

i am one of those people! I did have a ? about the track bar. As you can see my drop bracket has the eccentric bolt that you can twist and make longer or shorter. When i had the truck in the air this bolt was set in the middle of the notch. I know not to tighten anything until everything has a load on it and its back on the ground so you dont bind bushings and what not. When I put the truck on the ground this bolt moved toward the drivers side of the slot. I just left it there and tightened it down. What exactly does adjusting the track bar do?

The track bar keeps the axle centered in the frame. Old trucks never had them so when the spring bushings got worn they wandered all over the road.
