I know this isn't idi specific....but thought I would ask the guru's anyway.
1988 F250 4X4, I split the transfer case housing in half. Wish I could say it was doing something fun like rock climbing or going through 5 feet of mud. But no, just pulling out from a stop sign, and all of a sudden no go. I was able to push it out of the way and start looking at it. Transfer case housing split.

Now the question, I have found that it is a BW 1356 manual shift transfer case. Does the replacement transfer case have to come from a diesel truck? My truck has the ZF-5 tranny. Can I get a transfer case from a gas truck with the ZF-5 and have it bolt right up?

Thanks for your help.

I'm pretty sure they all have the same bolt pattern and use the same input shaft size and spline count...The BW1356 is a pretty common t-case.

There is one thing to be concerned with...

My Bronco has a "Fixed yoke" output to the rear, some Trucks use a "Slip yoke" so make sure you have the correct output and yer good to go!
