I know this isn't idi specific....but thought I would ask the guru's anyway.
1988 F250 4X4, I split the transfer case housing in half. Wish I could say it was doing something fun like rock climbing or going through 5 feet of mud. But no, just pulling out from a stop sign, and all of a sudden no go. I was able to push it out of the way and start looking at it. Transfer case housing split.
Now the question, I have found that it is a BW 1356 manual shift transfer case. Does the replacement transfer case have to come from a diesel truck? My truck has the ZF-5 tranny. Can I get a transfer case from a gas truck with the ZF-5 and have it bolt right up?
Thanks for your help.
