Track Bar Bushings!!

I am in the middle of a dilemma. I have a set of track bar bushings I ordered from Rock Auto some time back. Today I removed my track bar and pressed the old bushings out. Well I should have checked the new ones first before doing this as they don't fit. They are much too large in diameter.

They are Moog part # K80034 which is the same part # that Advance Auto (the only store within 25 miles) has for this item. So how dangerous is it to drive without the track bar? I haven't tried yet but as loose as things have been lately I worry that removing any support no matter how little may make it unsafe on the road.

Next question. Who knows what the correct item is and where can I get them? Thanks

Oops. Problem solved. I was overlooking the old bushing shell that stayed in the bore of the track bar. I removed it and they fit fine.

What did you use to press out the track bar bushings?

Been there, I did something similar the other day but I cursed a bunch so the F-inlaw never caught on....

12 ton press. Only the rubber came out. I then used a sawzall to cut through the bushing shell and a chisel/punch to drive them out.

My press really is a POS. I would have replaced it by now but don't really need it too often and it has gotten me by when I have needed it. I would like a really nice one with linear bearings and a hydraulic pump. I'll just keep dreaming for now.

yup with the resource we have here, and my computer laptop being in the garage, Ive jumped the gun a little bit also. I'm so worried that its a real issue and if I don't post up now asking questions, everyone will have gone to work , or went to bed and I wont get an answer to my questions..

I had to help the neighbor press in a Volvo control arm bushing one night really late in a 'have to get to work in the morning' situation. We ended up with a bottle jack, a steel plate on the ground and some sockets under the frame of my truck Not pretty but... got er dun

A ball joint c-clamp press works wonders on jobs like this - money well spent.

Oh yea... I have one and its a great small press for lots of things... U-joints also.... clamp in a vise or work off the ground.... they are great.
