Timing Reset

Today I backed up my timing from 11 DBTDC to 9.5 DBTDC. I test drove it about 100 miles on the freeway. Finding are very good. Less smoke overall. Motor rolls up in the rpm band easier and quicker. Seems like I have more pep too. Now I'll drive it this way for a few days and then turn up the Pensacola pump 2 flats. Maybe try upping it again if the smoke is under control. If I get more smoke than I want to see after I turn it up 2 flats I'll stay there and have it dynoed. Things to be done......

I have found that 9.5 seems to be the 'sweet spot' for my truck. It rattles pretty good when cold (cold advance solenoid on), but the truck runs good at that setting.

Have you ever looked into one of these.
Due to all the experimentation you do and information you provide to all of us maybe we should chip in and get you one.

Mine is 9.5 BTDC as well. Seems to be giving you similar results as it has given me. I don't know if it is optimal for power, but it was a recommendation of Ken when I purchased the IP.

Well. that doesn't surprise me. That's falling right inline with my theory of the european timing spec matching up with the new ULSD fuel and that wound up figuring up at 9.7btdc
