I didnt get near enough pics but before the Memorial weekend trip I modded the fuel tanks and put in a full diesel fuel system. Removed pumps from tanks, installed bronco rear tank, made these little bungs to vent the tank. Fills full tilt bogie at all fuel stops so far. YAY. The sending unit pic is a little vague but its 1/2 inch air brake line over the tube, fits tight, clamped on after with a crimp clamp.

Oh and the coworkers crane is the preferred method of bed removal!;Sweet

That is good lookin work.

All this fuel tank talk is making me want a bronco rear tank.
Any mods done to the float to make it read properly in a bronco tank? Just mod a bronco sending unit to work?

Russ, thanks for sharing! I've been wanting to do something exactly like this.

Couple questions if I may.

Is that bung tapped to 3/8 npt?

Where did you attach the other end? To the filler neck?

Did you put a rollover valve back in the system anywhere?

I did mod the bronco sending unit, removed the pump, flared a stainless tube and silver soldered it over the original, then pushed on the air brake line and trimmed it to just clear the tank bottom, then cut 2 little notches in each side of nylon just cause.
The fuel injection tank has a little bowl in the bottom so it will suck it down to about a quart.
The bung is tapped 3/8 but I counter bored it so the elbow would be as short as possible, ran it to the filler neck, I just tapped a thread and screwed it in a couple threads, its a pain on a round thin tube, then ultra rtv on the outer just to keep water out. I used 1/2 inch hose for vents
No rollover valve, if I roll one of these trucks I wont be worrying about a fuel spill.

The dually was a 460 so the top hole in the tanks is larger than diesel trucks FYI.
I would recommend sourcing new grommets before tackling this, they are not sunlight resistant so are pretty sad if a tank has sat out.

A person could gut the rollover valve and just use it with 3/8 hose, just keep in mind that is some fragile plastic, when the drill bit grabs it turns to crumbs, dont ask how I know this.lol

Yeah, seems like grommets can be had. I have access to s lathe that would make short work of that. Where did you source the elbow?

As I'm doing all new tanks, I may weld bungs on the filler neck.

Thanks for the info Russ.
