switched ignition power?

Im needing switched ignition power to run relays for my electric fans, pump for methanol injection and electric lift pump. I was thinking about running a relay off the wire on the fuel shut off on the ip to power the 3 relays I need for my other circuits. What do u guys think about that? I dont wanna run to much amperage that circuit.

You could tap it from the fuse box or ignition switch.

Relays don't draw much power. They should not present too much load on that circuit. A easy place to get this same circuit is the brake warning switch mounted on the pass side fender, the one with the vacuum line going to it. I believe it's red/green.

I run a solenoid for my water **** and electric pump off the FFS wire

FSS wire should be fine for three Bosch/Tyco relays. They only draw something around 100mA for the coil current, so three of them is still only like half an ampere.

Any red with green-strip wire is ignition power.

I recall seeing three, one for the ip, one for the glow plug controller, and i dont recall it but franklin2 said one goes to the low vacuum sensor.

An easy way to do it is either a splice connection or cut the ring terminal off the glow plug controller, strip the wire and crimp another new wire to this one with a new ring terminal. Then run new wire to relays.

One goes to the voltage regulator too.

rhkcommander is right, light green with a red strip is Ford's way of saying "IGNITION ON POWER." It's that way in the 1971 F250 I have too, and numerous others have said it's like that for a large span of years.

there are many power points to tap into,,, if this should fail (the power tap on the i.p.) you will be best served and live longer using the stuff on pass fender ect.
a dead ip would SUCK
