Went to look at this today, Was 8 hours round trip on the motorcycle ( good ride anyhow) But the truck is done, Trans wouldnt shift, the dana 60 needs to be rebuilt ( has a helluva wobble from 30-65) and the truck would die if you let off the accelerator abruptly. Had a drip tube welded into the torque converter cover to ensure the oil dripping past the rear main seal would miss hitting the exhaust pipe. More blow by than I have seen before.

The pis make it look aloy nicer than it is in person. Paint is a $100 cheapo and the doors are trashed from removing a company logo. Ijnterior is cracked and torn all to hell to.

I am looking specifically for a crew cab 4x4 with A/C . For the life of me, I cant find on that isnt beat to hell. 4th truck I have checked out this week.

Oh well, keep looking i guess.

There are several down here in Southeast Tx. I can name about 10 right now but they carry a premium price. Cheapest I have found was 5500 but it was a half decent truck.

X2 on it being hard to find a good truck down here. I drove to Dothan a few months ago to look at a truck before I got this one, it was a complete waste of 8 hrs time. Maybe it's something in the water up there :dunno More likely it's that folks here in LA ride 'em hard and only consider selling them when they're done for. I had to go to FL to find mine.

Also lack of inspections here...the state will literally let you drive it into the ground!

its why i built mine, mine was a 2wd c6 gasser. I couldn't find a nice crew for nothing.

Dont hate me for this, But if I have to build one again, it will be a square body chevy crew with a CTD and 5 speed. I did this before and got stupid when someone offerd me some money and i sold it. I am looking into the ford becasue i hate the 6.2 and the 6.5 TD. Cant stand IFS on a heavy duty truck either. Seemed like ford had a good setup to use as a work truck till I can build my CTD Chevy again.

Funny how things work out. I gave up pn y crew cab chevy CTD build and decided to go IDI f350. Out of the blue i found a 2 owner chevy crew cab with working A/C and documented miles less than 120K. Small block chevy and all. I am not a fan of the 454. Dirt cheap. Now tis time to start gathering parts for the CTD conversion.

Thanks to everyone here for the help, but I guess the IDI wasnt meant to happen for me. i will still be on the forum. You **** are too cool to abandon.

Things happen for unknown reasons.

Atleast its got the 350 to run around in for now. I had a 454, total gas hog. My 6.2 wasn't horrible, but my 6.5's were terrible.

12V?

Yes 12 valve CTD when the times comes. have to make it mane and complete the short bed conversion before i swap out the motor adn trans though. Its a 350 with a 700R4 that was just rebuilt.

I learned my lesson on the 6.5 TD. Never again.
