I went to turn up my IP screw a flat or 2 this past weekend and I was only able to turn it 1 1/2 flats before it stopped. This worries me that a previous owner has turned it up too much so I would like to put it back to the stock setting but I don't know where that is. The truck had zero black smoke and is N/A. How many flats from maxed is the stock setting?

There is no stock setting. It’s just pre set from the builder. It’s not like a carb where you can max it out then back it off. Do you have a egt gauge? Your pump wears at about the same rate as your injectors. Parts of the “tune up” service is to turn up the pump to match the wear of the injectors and then time. Your pump may be at end of life. Usually 150,000 miles or in that neighborhood.

If it’s running good, egts are acceptable, mpg are acceptable, and it tows/hauls what you need it to, I wouldn’t worry about it now. Just know that in a while your gonna need to do pump and injectors.

So I have a new set of mosse injectors going in. I have no history of the pump but it appears to be newer that the rest of the engine(looks wise). I also found a receipt in the glove box for a fuel pump replacement, no date but the repair was around $800 so mabey it has been replaced, not sure. So what your saying is just go drive it and watch my Pyro, if it goes above 1200 on a hard pull turn it down until it doesn't. If it IS already maxed out and not making any black smoke out the tailpipe than it must be worn out. The truck runs great and feels strong I just did the injectors for peice of mind, 105k miles.

I would guess that an $800 repair for a fuel pump means the IP was replaced. I would also guess that, unless the IP is severely worn, a fully turned in fuel screw is way too much fuel. I went 1.5 flats on an N/A and that was just about perfect in terms of EGTs, power, and mostly no smoke.

Should have more adjustment left than that on an na calibrated pump. What numbers are on the side of the pump?
