Window replacement

Replaced the broken side window. It was parked by an elementary school. I suspect a kid threw a rock at it, but that's just a guess.

It wasn't all bad tho. While at PnP getting the window, I managed to find a good bumper, valence, header panel, chrome grill and signal light assemblies.
And another non-chrome grill. All 50% off this weekend. :)

Long overdue oil change.
Went with the tsc oil and M1 filter again for now.
Wanted the ELF7405, but have to order it online. Same with the oil I want.
Plus trying to save a little so I can get my booster where it needs to be..... @bbjordan lol

About to check my tcase fluid also. Damn thing is leaking between the case halves. May jb weld it. Lol

also a long overdue oil change/ major service. 495,8## km, just over 11,000 km on this one and I am really carefull to change at 10,000km. unfortunately the shop grease gun tip wouldn't fit my driveshaft Ujoints so they get it next week.

only added 1 litre of oil in this last interval and it was still 1/2 way up the crosshatch when I drained it. I am almost thinking this motor is getting better with age or something ? I hate to retire Barney but I'm going to get pulled over eventually it looks so bad. mechanically ready for commercial safety but body is scary bad! gravel road means all windows closed and fan on high or dust will choke everybody out! semifloat 60 is even holding in there, van wanders when its empty but with a loaded trailer it runs straight . pushes those Cclips up into the wear grooves in the carrier and just takes it:rotflmao

Well I had no idea how long it had been since the rear drive shaft U joints had been done. Based on how the rest of the truck was when I got it, I figured I may as well just replace them all and have that known replacement filed away in my brain.

So I bought three new U joints (cause I have that double cardigan joint off the back of the transfer case) and the rookie at the parts place says its the same part number for all three (Ya you know where this is going)

Well the U joint at the rear axle end was simple. Normal U joint stuff I have done a million times.

The cardigan double joint, knuckle thing.. well that was my first encounter with that beast. Suffice to say its a pain in the **** however I managed to get it apart without breaking anything.

Only to discover that the U joints in that assembly are NOT the same part as the rest of them, they smaller! So that brought my rear drive shaft work to an abrupt halt as the parts stores were closed. Which meant it was time for beer and campfire!

Tomorrow it will be complete and I will move on to the next task..

I hate the double Cardone joint.
Yours must be the flanged output with a 2 piece driveshaft?
On mine, only the front shaft has it. Which I believe all 3 are the same. Mine the needs rebuilt, the locator ball is gone.
Then on the rear, those two are the same.

Well I have a 1 piece rear shaft and it has it. Apparently it was an antivibration binding thing they decided to do.

Well apparently the idea was to limit binding and U joint wear resulting from sudden jarring motion on the drive shaft. The assembly operates like a CV axle joint to serve that purpose.

Reassembly is one of them "hold your face the right way" deals. The ball in the middle of the joint has its own bearing needles that like to fall over just as much as the ones in the U joint end caps. However, it is back together and stuff in the rear view mirror no longer looks blurry from vibrations as I drive down the highway. Something to check off the "Yeah I have done one of those, it was a pain and I'll try to avoid doing that again for a while" list.

me thinks youre going to have to use a heat wrench this time lol
Funny thing was, it actually came off pretty easy. Just normal tools. No fancy fan clutch tools or anything. I was shocked.
Fan clutch is fine though. Still works great. It's locked more often than not.
Been having 100°F days already, plus with the ac running now, oh and add in the 205° tstat. Lol

The new air inlet is 3.5", so I had to order a new boot. Gotta run out and get new clamps.
