Rust over hips?

I see there is problems with rust on duallys over the fiberglass rear fenders, I see my truck has just a really tiny spot, I want to stop this before it gets out of hand like a lot of other trucks I seen where half the the side of the bed is missing because of the rust. What can I do to prevent this from happening to mine?

Clean really well and paint with a product like por15 or even bed liner if you are on a low budget. Also some just spray it with used oil every winter.

a company (Rustoleum IIRC) makes a primer type crap that converts rust to a primer, actually eats the rust and uses it as part of the paint

tried it eons ago on a vehicle, and then took sandpaper through it (very slowly) just to check if it worked like it said, actually did, and that rust spot hasn't gotten any worse in 10-15 years

The real problem is behind that area, and in between the inner bed, there is a piece of insulation stuffed in there that traps water in it. If you can get it out of there it will stop the problem for the most part. It is a real tight are, and I can figure for the life of me why an engineer would ass that stupid rust maker in there.

All my life I have wondered how an engineer REALLY THINKS!!!!!!!!!!!

at one of the shops i used to work at,she shopforeman said "the reason engineers are the way they are is because at one time an engineer caught a mechanic sleeping with his wife".
