Is it a bad idea to run my motor in the truck without the transmission attached? I have a jack stand under the back of the oil pan. I want to see if my Lucky Mod flywheel is balanced. Thanks

I hope you have a piece of wood between the oil pan and the jack stand though. I don't know what the oil pan strength difference between our IDIs and a gasser is, but I've seen a jack stand crush and almost go through a oil pan on a 351cid engine. I do know that without the transmission bolted up, the motor is going to drop in the rear and if it "rattles" off the jackstand while running, the fan will most likely catch the radiator. How are you going to start it? Doesn't the starter bolt to the transmission? I'm not asking all these questions to seem like an @$$. I'm asking because you have raised my curiousity about this.
