Ok... Any kent moore J33300 or j33300-a meter will time our engines but... You need the probes to make the two connections to our engines. Because most here will time by the pluse type method we need the hardline clamp and the magnetic probe that fits to the timing tab on the dampner location. These meters will time our engines three differant ways. Pluse, luminosity or by a timing lite. Its so much easier to use the pluse method because the only two connections are simple to reach. Then the computer reads the timing down to a 10th of a degree and the rpm is read of its own digital readout. Now something about the meters. The J33300 is the older meters and no longer made. There were two makes of this meter too. The one you don't want is the meter that has theodd looking digital readout and I can't recall what that was at the moment. The J33300-A meter is still sold today.. The magnetic probe will cost $275.00 is its missing or damaged. The clampon probe is cheap at around $75.00. Then you need to buy the wire harness and that around $135.00. A new meter can be bought for around $650.00 from OTC too. If your looking at the one on ebay now that has a $450.00 bin price that just way too much for a meter thats no longer made and the seller is pointing out that this is an $800.00 meter... Well its not because its not a J33300-A meter. If removing a glow plug is how you want to time these engines then you need the liminosity probe and harness. The lumi probe is going to cost $375.00 and the wire harness is about $150.00 or $200.00... Then you need to have a float so the diesel cetane is known. Its lost of work timing that way. I like simple things. Clamp on two probes. Fire up the engine. Read the rpm and timing. then shut it down to make any adjustments... Recheck and your usually down with it. Hope this helps answer some questions...
