Removing Decompression valve deal

Hi guys, I am in the midst of a full rebuild of my 86 f350 ats turbo. I want to get rid of the ats airbox setup and just build a conventional intake to the turbo. Now I want to get rid of that silly decompression valve thing that comes out of the airbox and goes into the valve cover. I was thinking of just running a conventional vent out of the valve cover instead does anyone see this being a problem? I am pretty sure that valve just has something to do with crankcase pressure? any help is appreciated!

The CDR (crankcase decompression regulator) is the valve your refering to. Most who ditch the CDR will simpley make a road draft tube (RDT) and vent the crankcase into the atmosphere.

Search the IDI forum for "RDT" or "road draft tube" and you'll find tons of reading.

If you run open breather element in place of the CDR, you may see enough fumes coming out of it that to other drivers the engine will look like tis on fire. I actually ditched the CDR for an RDT, and I don't like it, I want my CDR back in, but I think in my infinite stupidity I threw it in the dumpster when I was moving a few weeks ago.

i welded a 3/4inch elbow to the timing cover plate (access for ip bolts) ran a 3/4inch hose to the cdr. attach where needed.
just be cool on the timing cover plate, getting it too hot'll warp it.

otherwise works great.
