last winter i went to start the truck and it fired up great. but died about 10 sec later, it was -30 out so i tried it again and it fired up but died. than would not start for 4 days, after finally getting it started i figured out in extreme cold it would need 1000-1500 rpm for about 30 sec to stay started. before this winter id like to find out what the deal with that was, i work in utah and live in colorado so a busted truck is no good. any ideas?????

I would suspect glow plugs and or glow plug relay. Also at 30 below you need good clean fuel and a anti-gel additive as well.

would that affect it even now in the summer?yesterday it kind of did that to me again.first time since last winter but, it just died pulling off the drive way but fired up with no prob. how does one check glow plugs and relay operational status anyways? I know the glow plugs also have a sensor that plugs into the air intake but my truck has a cold air intake and nothing is plugged into it so could that be an issue as well?

cps recall? i don't think so. i thought that was 97 or something like that...
