Question regarding lift pump.

I installed an electric fuel pump, and bypassed the mechanical lift pump on the engine.. I planned on using it for the oil return for the turbo, but I am not hooking the turbo up yet. Can I just run a piece of tube from the inlet to the outlet, so that it just loops? Or will that blow something..? It would just be for a month or so..

Should just circulate the air around, but I don't know if the pump uses the fuel to help cool it. If you blow it up I have a couple of spares!

I'm not sure if the bolt pattern is similar to the ones used by gasoline engines, but you could probably just buy a block off plate for the time being, and then drill and tap a hole for the return when the time comes?

Get a Chev small block cover. The one I got just need very minor grinding to fit, and it bolted right now.

I believe a big block chevy fuel block off plate bolts right on with no modification. I think, Its been awhile since I did mine.

i just left mine on there and nothing bad has happend, i dont know if it works now though. i was to lazy to take it off, then forgot about it, no i figure it is just a back up now.

yea not sure what one i got but the top 2 bolted in place, just had to trim the bottom off, a week after it was installed i saw the "correct" one at autozone...

and why are you using it as an oil return???

Mine is still hanging there pumping air. I wouldn't worry about it.

I was going to plumb it for the turbo oil return, which is mounted beside my T-case. I don't have the time to fab the rest of the turbo mounts, so I am going to finish it later. I just need the truck drivable..
