Pushing the fuel?

My 94 just got a non turbo uhaul pump on it Saturday. It runs with so much more power it's amazing. I know we set the timing pretty advanced however I have yet to get it to someone to dynamically time it.
My main concern is smoke. I don't get a ton of black smoke but I do constantly have a haze more than I like to see. The pump is turned up all the way then backed off 2flats. To decrease the haze some, is this a potential timing issue or do I need to back off the fuel some?
Guys with the moose pumps how are you using all the fuel with your stock turbos? I sure would like to burn all the fuel it's getting right now.

Advice?

How worn is the engine , and is it a bluish haze or something else/can't tell?

Here's hoping it's just timing

well one thing popped in my head today I should clarify. It doesn't haze at all when I run on the front tank which has straight diesel in it. On diesel I can make a nice black stream if I have to get on the go peddle when underboosted. It just hazes when I'm on the rear tank which is roughly 90% WMO (finely filtered in a centrifuge) and 10% Diesel.
You can plainly smell the exhaust and it smells like the burnt oil I run for fuel.
Maybe the answers in my fuel of choice? Maybe I need to add a lil more diesel to my fuel blend?
The engine itself has 228k miles on it, and appears to be in good condition.

Sounds like you answered your own question.

Burning oil will cause a haze lol. No worries there the haze is normal when running WMO especially 90%. your ip and injectors won't like pumping it though - lowered lifespan but the svings can more than make up for it a your probably aware. Heat helps it flow better too.

Just throwing it out there:D

Diesel smoking will look different than WMO chugging. No sure how to explain but YouTube probably has an example of WMO smoke

Thx all. Yep I know it's harder on injectors and IP. The $6500 a year I save in fuel is well worth it IMO though. :sly

I guess I need to get a bit more scientific on my fuel mixing. Right now I just throw in a 5 gallon can of fuel for roughly 40 gallons of WMO. Mix it all in the barrel and centrifuge the crap out of it (roughly 8-10 passes) I see a jar of diesel and a jar of my homebrew soon appearing in my garage. Perhaps getting my viscosity a little more on par will produce less haze.

Question: would propane injection help w/ burning up all that fuel? (i.e clear up the haze of unburnt fuel?)

I mix mine down pretty darn this. Its about the same viscosity as diesel. (i have a mixing ladle that has a hole drilled in it and i count how long it takes to empty and stop dripping. thats what i mix my atf/wmo to. I still have a slight haze that is till the water/**** injection kicks in.

Well the viscosity mustve been the issue. As I burned some oil fuel I added a couple gallons of diesel at the pump to thin it down. My guesstimate was a 20% diesel base and 80% oil. No more smoke. I even forgot last night to purge down to my front tank which is all diesel before shutting it down. Wen out this morning and it took 2 revolutions instead of one but she fired right up.
No more haze!

I've used diesel, old gas, kero, jet a, etc to thin out the wmo. I've had no issues with starting unless i've got waaay to much ATF in the mix. I used to keep diesel in the front tank for the just incase factor but after blowing up a 6.9 (not fuel related) i keep my mix in both tanks.

Dunno about you but with me rolling into the throttle hard i can easily melt my motor down, i find my motor burns hotter with my mix. i'm gonna plumb in a intercooler in addition to my water/**** mix.

Yep significant increase in heat w/ WMO is what I see too!

WMOGuy,
You might want to give some very serious consideration to a water/**** system if you're going to run WMO a lot. It will keep your egt's in check and prevent the dreaded WMO ring coking. It's not like we don't already have enough to worry about on these old rigs...:D

yep I've been talking w the dudes @ Snow about a proper system for this pickup. I have one sitting on the shelf but it's WAY to big of a setup for these low HP motors. I had it on a twin turbo Cummins.
