Decided to help out a friend on his truck in which we thought it needed head gaskets. It's a 92 F350 with 7.3 and ATS turbo. I pulled the engine out for ease of doing the job. Pulled off the heads and it appears that the head gaskets look fine. Fire rings looked ok.

The truck started fine, ran great, is not mixing oil or coolant. It starts pressurizing the cooling system within a minute or two of it running and does it very quickly. The trucks radiator has a leak along the top seam on top tank but it holds coolant fine once under the leak. Although it will still pressurize the system faster then air can escape out of the hole in radiator.

It appears to have a "dealers diesel" reman engine. Age and mileage unknown as truck has around 327k. With heads off, it has .030 pistons in it now. The drivers side head has cracks between the valve seats on all 4, while pass side head has zero cracks.

The rest of the cylinders all look fine, can still see cross hatch in all them, has a little scoring here and there.

Input is appreciated! Can get other pics if needed. Thanks! :D

From the two motors I have seen with cavitation, cylinder 4 looks like it has it to me, but its hard to tell with the surface rust in there. Could be the motor sat for a day or so before the pics were taken though. Im in the process of pulling my motor which I think has a blown head gasket as well, and literally had a nightmare last night that cylinder 7 and 8 had cavitation...

Pics of the other side of the cylinder wall would be good.

Here's some pics of the top sides of the cylinders.

In some aspects it don't look that bad but at the same time it does. Thanks everyone for the replies so far!
