popping noise?

when i'm going decently fast and make a sharp turn around a corner, i hear a popping noise from somewhere along my front axle. i think that i read in another post where a guy had a popping noise that it was his tie rod, but i can't remember. anybody know what the sound could be?

Could be a bearing, mine did that.

Are you sure it's outside the truck. The framework that supports the dash is made of aluminum and is known to break and crack and pop when making sharp turns with the truck in a twist.

it definitely sounds like the outside of the truck. it's a deep sounding thud. just one POP when i make the sharp turn.

i do know the sound you're talking about though. i hear the creaking popping type noise when i'm off roading or even have just 2 tires on a curb and the other two are on the pavement.

you have a fourwheeldrive check the center pivots on the axle mine does the same thing you probably need to change the center pivot bushings.

i actually do need to change those bushings... those are what is causing the "thud" noise?

i am pretty sure that is what it is on mine, unless we both have another problem

When you figure out what it is let me know, 'cause mine does it too. I've replaced all front bushings with polyurethane and replaced an upper ball joint trying to fix this with no luck. Mine does it on the left side when backing out of a parking spot and turning.

i purposefully tried to make it pop today and was unable to do it. weird.

on a totally unrelated side note, i got a used banks y-pipe and got it on my truck yesterday. the difference is night and day!
