Picked Up An O.D., Now I Need Help!

I was browsing the Pick Your Part today, and came across an F-250 with a 2 wheel drive C-6. It was a gasser, and I started to pass it up, when a U.S. Gear box under the hood caught my eye. I dropped to my stomach to look under the truck, and what do you know - a duat range was bolted onto the back of the thing! I pulled it and the wiring off of it, but left the adapter as it is no use to me.

Now, how should I mount this thing? It looks like I can take off my transfer case and mount this in its place, then I could run a divorced 205. Or I could mount this thing divorce style, and fab up brackets and a drive shaft. I could try to get the right adapter to go between the T-case and ZF, but I do not know how pricey they are. Any help is greatly appreciated. Oh, by the way, I paid $53 for it and the wiring and box (I did not know it was half off day)!!!!!

Thanks,

Nick

Go back and get the adaptor. It's worht monies if you decide to trade it in for the proper adaptor.

I believe GV is still offering some credit?

This one is a U.S. Gear, I do not know if they have the same program as GV.

GET THE ADAPTER! :) Even if they don't have the same program, there is probably someone somewhere who would be willing to trade or buy it from you to help with the cost of a new one. As for the overdrive, send it to me, I'll get it working and send it back after a 100,000 mile roadtest! :)

I have a US gear on my rig also. It mounts between my transfer case and transmission.

Yours evidentally has the tail housing. I would call up us gear and see what the correct adapters may cost. They might not be that bad.

I like the idea of mounting in on your tranny and running a divorced 205.

If you have any questions let me know. I probably have my manual around if I can find it.

Great score.

Thanks,
Jeremy

I almost felt too embarassed to look them in the eye. As soon as I paid, I left and sped out of there so they could not waive me back and tell me they screwed up!

For once I learned to shut up, and it got me somewhere! Kind of ironic, as it was my big mouth that had me head over there in the first place (go into an argument with the wife, and wanted to get away. Found the O.D. and came home happy, and made up).

I might have a chance tomorrow, I do not know...I will try, and then get back to you.
