Yes, John/Jon, an adapter fitting screws into the end of the timing gear inlet, which then attaches oil hose with a wire spring-clamp. The reason for this is what you don't see in this pic: a long snorkel for intake air, which extends forward from the air filter to the upper rim of the cross-piece in front of the radiator. Since this duct runs dead-center (relative to engine), the oil intake is diverted to the side. Pretty cool, IMHO.

Thought this pic might be interesting to post, as these vans are kinda rare these days, and I knew where I had the pic stored.

Thx for your pics also. Mine is super simple, too, with no cruise or AC. Would hate to remove all that to get to almost anything!

Do miss the AC in the summer, though. At least it's a dry heat in NorCali! :sly

If diesel vans are getting hard to find in Sunny California, you can imagine how hard they are to find in salty Ontario!

Actually anywhere I go on vacation, these vans, especially the older ones, are really rare to see. That's why i'm gonna do anything I can to hang on to mine, it's going to be stored for winters, and I got abit of light body work to do on it to make it perfect. But it's very solid, and in better shape than some 10 year old trucks on the road here!

Yep, every time I glance at the exhaust pipe of an older van out here, they almost always have the tell-tale double-pipe of a gasser.

And that's a mighty sharp-looking '87 you have there. Really like the orig wheel covers on the boxy early body.

Durffff... helps if I read your signature, huh?

And one big beast's all I can handle at once.... in recent weeks, I could say that one's too much!!

Will feel better, though, when engine's back in and running well... stay tuned!
