ok, stupid front axle question (93 f-250)

I'm looking for the a hub bearing kit for my f-250. I know the front axle (or at least parts of it)was replaced after an accident. I see a big 50 cast into the axle so I'm assuming it is a Dana 50. The original hub caps don't fit over the hubs so I'm assuming they are different than the original(?) how do I figure out what I need as far as a wheel bearing kit goes?

Take the hub/rotor off remove the bearings go get replacements and new races and yer golden!

Yeah I hear ya, I'm trying to get all my parts in advance to shorten down time. Might have to do that ultimately. I'm sure I'm going to forget something since I'm replacing the bearings, seals, u-joints, ball joints and tie rods all at the same time. Did buy a ford service manual set since my chilten manual is worthless.

My $0.02, if you've got the original Timkens I would just clean, inspect, repack, reseal. If there are no obvious signs of damage (pitting, blue metal, flat rollers, surface roughness) you are better off repacking with high temp synthetic grease than you are taking a risk getting Chinese garbage bearings. Last set of wheel bearings I got for the '85 truck were nice and expensive and came in the signature black and orange Timken box. Under the part number on the back flap of the box it said "Country of Origin: China"

These were bought at a high quality parts store. I went back and demanded something else, got SKF bearings but they didn't fit, wrong part number. Went back again, got National bearings which had "Made in Mexico" on the box... better than nothing I guessed so I put them in. Got me down the road until I sold the truck.

Again, take this for what it's worth. Two cents...

x2 on the take yours out first. From my experience, you usually have to make 2 or 3 return trips to the parts house if you don't. Getting the right parts the first time is worth what seems to be extra down time before you start.

x2 on the clean, inspect, repack, and reseal. I recently shredded a hub that had been rebuilt with the NAPA (chinese) bearings about 2 years prior. By the time I had limped it home, the 4X4 hub was cooked, and the rotor was ruined from riding on the brake caliper. I purchased a used assembly from a junkyard, complete with bearings, (timken), and they looked better and had tighter tolerances with 80k of use than the new chinese ones I had laying around. I ended up reusing the bearings, and only had to replace the seals.
