Oil cooler problems

I have a 86 ford f-250 extended cab with 6.9
How do you check to see if the oil gallieries on the engine are clogged

No real easy answer to that one... Usually its boiled out when hot tanking the block. Why do you feel some might be plugged???:dunno

well everytime we put on a filter, we start it for a couple of seconds then have to turn it off, because of all the oil on the ground. i think we are on our fourth filter now. and the oil looks like its pushin through the oil filter gasket

Is the oil coming down around the filter? These engines don't develop a whole lot of pressure, just volume. Maybe the filters are not seating?

id check to see if the old gasket stuck to the oil filter outlet and might cause it too push past?:dunno

Agreed. Number one cause for oil filter failure!!! Old gasket stuck to housing!

Fill your filter full of oil, wipe a little on the gasket, and make sure the iol filter housing is clean, dry and free of the old gasket. Look for cracks and make sure the bolts that hold it to the block are good and tight.
