OEM radios of any use?

Hello!

Yet more IDI parts I came across that I need to make disappear one way or another. I actually have two 2-knob radios; one's an AM-only unit that was the OEM equipment on my van, and the other is an AM/FM stereo/cassette that was OEM on my truck (both are/were 1984 M/Y's). AFAIK the van's radio works just fine (I only put an aftermarket in because I wanted FM), but the truck's radio's in pieces (the presets didn't work very well, and the tape player wouldn't keep a tape in).

Is there any Ford restoration shops or anything like that that might have any interest in this stuff (if nothing else, as parts to rebuild other radios)? I know that there are a few companies out there that rebuild Mercedes factory radios to sell to people (and that's where my 300D's original radio's off to), but I wasn't sure if there might be anything similar for Ford or not. There's an electronics recycler I can take them to along with all my other electronic junk, but I figured that if anyone might have a use for them for parts or anything on those lines, no sense letting them go to waste. I'm not looking to get $$ for them. It's not worth the listing fees to eBay them.

By the lack of responses, I'm going to guess that the answer is "no"?

I've got a bunch of other electronics that are going to a recycler's on Monday; I guess these radios will go into the pile...

If you mean the plastic panel with holes for the radio and heater controls, there were some on eBay a few days ago, should still be some there.

yeah, except that one is a narrower one cut bigger, like the one I already have. What year did they switch to the wide radio?

This is the only one I can find - don't want to pay that much. Don't need the console either.

Actually, if you make a little wooded box for them, mount a couple of speakers, and put the radio in it, they make pretty cool shop radios. I built one once, and even had a power antenna built into it. Didn't have really great sound, but you could bang it around and it would outlast any ghetto blaster you buy off the shelf today. I still have the AM only rig out of my 69' Falcon, with a vintage FM converter tied to it.
