It doesn't say but looking at the exhaust it might be an IDI. I want the seat for my truck. It looks like it's well worth the asking price.

Look at my Avatar, thats one without a tach, I don't think they came out until 84-85, pretty sure they had them by 87 though.

I think the Brick and OBS all diesel had tachs..... everyone I have seen has.... may be wrong... we all know how Ford likes to do random things.

In the 83-86 it was a XLT, XLT Lariat, special order thing... not all came with the Tach... they had the place for it, but no mechanism for it....

One difference between the early and late trucks... the C-6 does not need a tach signal, the E4OD does.... so maybe the 87 may or may not have had the tach.... but I figure, like they do today in almost all vehicles, we need a tach input, why not give it a needle...... at least it is one factory gauge that actually tells you something.... I have a tach in my 98 Sable..... why..... don,t know.... but I think they all did...... plus that way they only have to make 1 instrument cluster..... if you offer it as an option, you would have to stock both dashed in production, if you just put it in there, only 1 dash....

Yes,..and I think Gassers as well, I honestly don't remember ever seeing a Bricknse anything without a tach.

Inline 6 autos as well as some 302/351 autos, usually XL or stripped down models.

Although with the XLT Lariat package in the CL ad I would have thought it would have had one regardless.

I didn't notice the missing tach. I guess because it is kind of dark in that area. I once had an 88 f150 with the 5.0 that didn't have a tach.

Makes sense to me...I've seen brick-nose g@$$er clusters with no tach.

FWIW I think that many (but not all) '86 and some '85 diesels had a factory tach, although IIRC it wasn't even an option before '85 (my '84 originally had a IP gear cover with no provisions for a tach sensor)...I think it was standard in the diesels from '87 on, but I"m not 100% certain...
