A little more info on the truck would be nice. Single wide belt is a serpentine belt which i believe was used from 92 on up. 91 on down used V-belts. Don't quote me on the serpentine belts being used 92 on up though cause ive never owned anything newer than 91. But depending on what year the truck is either belt setup would be correct.

The above posting as to the years of V belts and serpentine are correct plus.... Any engine can be converted to serpentine or V belts. All the heads and blocks between the 6.9 and 7.3 engines are drilled and taped the same. So you are correct with the V belts and your uncle is correct with the serpentine. I actually converted over to the serpentine belt setup because I only carry one belt now and its so much easier to install. I lost the vacuum pump belt twice and only once lost the alternater belt. Those were really bad days too. A rock solid brake peddle exiting a down hill freeway offramp is about the last place to know you have no power brakes. I now have a hydroboost brake setup and its the cats ass to be sure. No more vacuum issues... Twice the braking hydraulic pressure to the brakes... Stops very well. Just make sure the seat belt is tightened up if your "testing" the brakes... Its tuff cleaning off the inside of the windshield of the face prints. Now I have some idea what a bug feels like as it hits my windshield.....:angel:
