in some of the e4od trannys if you tighten the bolt that hold the tranny filter too tight they wont shift correctly. i know in the rangers and explorers its that way.

E4OD truck transmissions do NOT have a bolt holding the filter, unless you installed the snap ring kit.

Also, check the O/D cancel switch to make sure it isn't shorting out.
