Not sure I would refer to it as a 6 passenger extended crew cab, but that looks like a great truck for a good price! that bodystyle looks real nice when its 4x4. the 4 speed manual is stout, just no overdrive. but thats a good excuse to buy big tires

Found a few more trucks on craigslist but none that have struck my fancy yet. I think im set on extended cab and solid axle. Suppose I could always get a ttb and SAS it but I'd rather not have to.

i need to go through the air lines again, got a leak in the rear. I think its the T going into the air tank on the rear side because i can get air out of the front of the truck but not the rear, or its just the fitting. either way, replacing them wont be anything difficult.

this has me thinking how i want to do an air setup on the idi though... i'm thinking about electrical compressor in back (once the flatbed has been procured) and where you would normally see service boxes on the passenger side of the truck under the flatbed i'll put to or three 10 gallon cylinders

Nice I have a stock 5.0/5.8 van bracket with saginaw but that DOES not fit IDI, I've got some ideas on what I'm gonna do for my Saginaw pump.

Love that York 110 it's also on TODO list! Except I'll be leaving the AC comp on and adding IN that York for compressed air

i tossed the idea of york and A/C around in my head with the idi build. but im pretty set on the electric compressor in the back. that way i dont have to be running the engine everytime i need air, it will be much more serviceable, and way less work.

ideally id like service boxes on the driver side and put the air tanks on the passenger. but i love the way that ass end looks, love the boards for the flat bed instead of the diamond plating, headache rack goes a little too tall, but it looks alright as well. if only it were an extended cab




as for turbo... what do you guys think, is it worth the risk of buying a truck with a turbo already on it and not knowing if it were done right or if its been messed with? or should i fork out the 2000 for the turbo kit and make sure its done properly myself?

From my experience, I absolutely wouldn't turbo another engine without doing new gaskets and head studs first.
If I bought one already turbo'd, I wouldn't drive it much at all before studding/new gaskets.

But that's just been my experience with two 7.3's. Banks Turbo.

I was going to say a complete reseal would be one of the first things I did regardless of turbo or not but I may have just found a buddy with a rebuild kit with everything down to new casting plugs.

If This is the case I will definitely be looking to go non turbo since I dont want a turbo seal to leak 1500 miles into a fresh rebuild.

if it was serviced at left coast diesel i could probably get the records from them on what all was done to it. the shop is about 20 miles from my place

still 12 grand is a lot. although i could make a pretty penny selling off all the welding equipment. wonder if i can talk him out of selling the welding gear and lowering the price

Nice truck but IMO, the price is about 6k too high for this area. Tell him to keep all the welding stuff and offer him a max of 5 or 6k.....that is if you like the vehicle. Keep us posted!

I agree, unless you are in the market for a start up welding buisiness, seems like too much money and crap to buy when all you want is a nice old ford.

Also, maybe its just me, but when i read "Truck has been a work truck and has wear as such." I immediately translate to "Im too much of a slob to take even basic cosmetic care of my sh*t but I still feel that I deserve top dollar for it". This is from my experiences going and looking at trucks with stuff like that in the ad. Last once I went to go see 2 hrs away in gunnison colorado had an OPENED CONTAINER OF TUNA ON THE FLOOR. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? THE FACT THAT ITS IN A POUCH INSTEAD OF A CAN DOESNT MAKE IT ANY LESS DISGUSTING. People slurping tuna out of a pouch seems to be a fad here in colorado...

No shots of teh interior point towards that as well.

That one might be worth the trip, I traveled 4-5 hours to pick up my Truck

I asked for videos of it running, and more pics of certain things I wanted to see, for me on the East coast I was worried about rust, so I got the guy to send my pics of all the doors and fenders, along with a complete walk around with it running.

My seller was pretty cool about it.

Just my 2 cents about buying a truck far away
