whats up fellow idi lovers. so im thinking about purchasing this used engine which is a n/a 7.3 to replace my 6.9 and the guy sent me a video of it running and it looks like its smoking through the intake. is it blow by? or what? i dont think my 6.9 did it. is this normal? it sounds strong and doesnt miss a beat and starts right up. but is on an engine stand with no coolent running through it just at an idle for about thirty seconds to let me hear it run. does anybody think the smoke or steam or whatever it is normal? because i dont wanna buy junk.

The cdr valve attaches to the back side of the intake air horn. It sucks the blowby vapor out of the valley pan under the intake manifold. Without actually seeing this happening I can't say if what you saw was ok.... Can you post the video here so we can see for ourselves...

Wow, it's hard to tell anything by that video; I could tell it was a diesel only by the audio.
