bed frame is made of metal cut it and fabricate around fill hose to come out in middle of frame. use 1/4 " plate and gusset it so you lose no strength. look like you had to weld the frame together so cut frame and lift hoses to middle of frame build around them.

The only thing I can offer is to look for a different fuel tank. Maybe something outside the frame rail like a medium duty truck would use. The engine won’t be picky about what kind of tank it draws from.

What about the "step" tanks the large commercial trucks use? Is there room under your doors? I believe those have no filler neck at all

If not under your cab maybe here? Then fabricate cages and skid plates around them?

Is there possibly enough room above the axle to consider lowering the rear of the truck 2-3" so the bed could be raised to create the needed clearance?

If your rear cargo area is the only concern, then perhaps @Danielle had a good idea with the side tanks. The cab could be raised some to create clearance if more room is needed. Alternatively smaller tanks could be made that would fit there?

Ok, here's something, to me as a Interim measure I found a side tank from a Mercedes 508 truck, I think I install that on the pass.side, and have the fuel transferred with a electric fuel pump in the oem tanks.

Then, when I'm allowed to drive the truck and summer is coming I'll concentrate more on finding a sulution to fill the oem tanks from the fillers.

Thanks for the ideas, and I ask still, if someone has a new idea of which i didn't think of yet, please propose it here in this post, to me this is still a temporary measure.

PS where I live US trucks are rare as hens teeth, and most of the parts have to be shipped from the US over the big pond.

cut hole in frame (Circle) use 2.5" Cab and Chassis Internally Vented Fuel Filler Neck (Diesel) weld 1/4" plate over frame on both side of hole with hole in them so you fill from middle frame and fuel cap is in middle of frame. is the frame bed 4"? the 1/4" plate is stronger than your frame. it will look good to.

An idea to park that might be useful at some point. Both my diesels have a single filler cap, then a Y pipe to two tanks. So there is only one hole in the side.

Can you just lower the existing tanks enough to fill correctly? Might lose the ability to store a spare tire but maybe that is an easier solution.

@raydav, Good Idea, but difficult to realise, Had it done 15 years ago with my Dodge, I got showered with petrol and we had lots of problems with tanks siphoning over.

finished installing the MB508 tank on the pass. side, installed fuel transfer pump, to the rear pump, had to weld some extra consoles, the tank takes 72 liters, and just this afternoon with testing I noticed that she doesn't fill the rear tank completely.
(Ididn't open the tank, so it's very well possible that the pick-up fell of?)
anyway, other than that, it works!
