Is there a way to adjust governor on the 94 IDI turbo? , will stop making power around 2800 rpm , is there a simple adjustment on this pump? , have had this issue since i bought the truck , i was under the impression the governor setting was around 3400rpm? , pulls hard up to 2800 then stops pulling.

TIA.

the bigger ih trucks were governed to 2800 rpms so id say you have a different ip.

It either has the IH spec injection pump or you aren't getting true WOT for some reason. You need to check the linkage on the side of the pump manually for full travel and then check it again for full travel by having someone else press the go pedal(engine off of course). I ran an IH spec pump for awhile. It ran nice in some ways, just geared for full fuel delivery down low, not so much at higher rpm. I had a C6 and 4.10s at the time, no turbo. It seemed to make it's best power around 40 mph and fall off at 50 and then the Ford spec didn't seem to do as much till you hit 50.

Started the tuck & blipped the throttle & rpm went up to 3500 , just noticed the air filter canister was showing restricted air filter , funny cause this was replaced by previous owner & is pretty clean between the folds , seems that stock inlet pipe that goes to air box is pretty well restricted , had the truck running & could feel the pull through the inlet pipe , have never needed to reset the canister before on this truck , maybe since i turned the fuel up it obviously wants more air , will remove the inlet tube & run a temporary 4" pipe to front of motor , will be interesting to see if this makes a difference , can't say i noticed any black smoke when i last drove the truck @ full throttle , just a black/grey haze , maybe those stacks will be clean as a whistle next time i gun the truck down the motorway.

You must be talking about the black flat intake line that draws air from just under the hood opening at the radiator support.... Thats a poor design from ford to make the intakes quite along with the large "soup bowl" found in the air filter top. Some motors also have a restricter plate on the lower filter holder that cuts off air flow to the intake... All they do is make the intake quite....

Yep that's the one , the K & N air filter is sposed to be reuseable although the PO replaced it just before i bought the truck , the power increase is night & day since adjusting fuel/IPtiming & turbo , maybe this truck will RPM higher now & improve performance even more.;Sweet

Just makes you wonder how much these trucks were restricted from factory , also wondering how much torque/HP can be gained just by tweeking IP timing/increasing fuel/adding air & so on..........
