Mel. I didn't know about the updated 6.9 controller, but my 84 has the 7.3 style controller. I did notice that my harness connector and the one from the 93 van the engine came out of are different. While I was pulling the engine out of the van in the JY I found another 7.3 that had a new controller and I grabbed that as well. I'll post pictures of the different harness ends.

Need some help and after searching the site couldn't find what I need. I am losing prime after only thirty minutes of sitting. I have eliminated all external leaks. a friend believes it is my FSV that recently started drawing from both tanks and not sure which one it is returning to. Could a bad FSV cause a fuel drainback? I have to crank for about 10-15 sec to get fuel up and once I get it there is no missing like air in the lines, runs fine? The engine itself runs great, plenty of power. Really happy with this find.

Another suggestion is don't be afraid to start a new thread for a new problem. You are much more likely to get more and better info.
As to your problem, leaking FSV can cause problems. A more likely scenario is that your fuel line olives are bad if your return lines are good. Typically that will cause a start and die condition though. If you know the FSV is bad, I'd either change it or bypass it to troubleshoot. If that solves the problem then you decide what to do as far as repair or replacing with manual valves.

I was willing to live with drinking from two tanks at once, but if its causing hard starts i will bite the bullet and put a new one on
If it's drinking from two tanks at once that's not good. They sometimes stick one way or the other because pieces of shower head get stuck in them. Oldbull8 pretty much has the definitive thread on FSVs. They can sometimes be fixed. Search for it on here.
