Identification on a Cummins in a Medium duty

I was taking a break at a job the other day when looked at a MD box truck with a for sale sign, so I poped the hood praying for a DT360, no such luck, I did see a big blue C on top of an inline 6, it looked about the same size as a dodge pickup engine, but I didn't verify, of course the first thought through my mind was "close the hood and walk away" but I listened to the other voice that said "will it fit in the Ford?"

Tags are out by 6 years, so I may be looking at scrap metal, but I am curious and devious.

Wish I could tell you what it is. Do you have any more info about that truck or any numbers from the engine? I'm bumping the thread even though I can't provide a real answer. With all the accumulated knowledge here someone can tell you what that is...I'm almost sure!

Sorry I don't have a better picture, but does it look similar to this one? There is a big blue "C" on the opposite side on the intake... A lot of those trucks came with the 6BT and yes they are very similar to what was used in the Dodge trucks--hope this helps

What make and approximate vintage was the truck?

My guess is it was a B-series....I'm not an expert, but I don't know of all that many C-series engines in trucks (other than special equipment)...

year would help you identify the pump, etc. the p7100 is pretty recognizable though

we got a cummins forum too. snag a pic i'm sure it'd help, or get truck year/model...

if you are standing in front of the truck stairing at the engine then down on the right side sticking off the timing cover is a pump that has all the injection lines comming off the top in a row then its a P-pump. If it has the lines comming out the back of the pump. such as our IDI pumps then its a VE pump. Both great pumps. everyone wants to do a P-pump because they are MUCH easier to get huge amounts of HP out of them. guys looking for a P-pump will pay upwards of 1000$ for them.

It is a P pump, doors were locked so exact year is unknown, but it was a Freightliner fl80, I'd say around early 90's, P pump, one piece valve cover showing, but that could be a cap over individual valve covers.

I do know where an F350 crew cab and dually bed sit, I keep thinking of setting them on this frame with an F600 front clip

Pretty sure its a 5.9. I keep looking for OM906's on CoPArt, and most of those FL80's have a damned Cummins in them

Almost positive that its the 5.9 ISB cummins. It is a remote chance that its the 8.3l ISC. It will most likely have a half decent spicer 6speed behind it that is direct drive in top gear. The truck is most likely complete junk.
