Do you use your parking brake. A sticky park brake cable or to tightly adjusted will cause the brakes to stick on and get warm, by the way self adjusting drum brakes are great mine are 28 years old 170,000 miles only time I need to turn the brake adjuster is to remove the drum.

Correct me if Im wrong, but I think if the adjusters are in the opposite way, the brakes will adjust DOWN instead of up.

the adjusters still have to extend when the adjuster lever pulls up on the outside of the star wheel. the star wheel needs to be to the rear of the brake assembly or rear of the truck so it will stay in proper contact with the adjuster foot as it auto adjusts the brakes in reverse.

Yes, but there is a left and right side(they are threaded different). If you reverse them, the brakes will adjust down instead of up(they will turn the opposite way of what they are supposed to). Usually they are marked on the end of the threaded part L or R...

you are correct, they are marked L and R, very good point, but the star wheel still needs to be to the rear of the brake assembly.

I believe what Jhnlennon is saying is as it adjusts instead of them expanding the shoes it will adust the adjusters smaller not furthure out. They should still move the star up if thats the way it goes just collapse the brakes not expand. Not sure but its my take on it.

well if the L goes on the left and R goes on the right and both sides the star wheel to the rear it will be correct and will not adjust the brakes looser.
