Ironman03, Can the hydroboost be installed to the stock master cylinder? And if so, the pedal would not need to be changed?

This would also seem to solve some of the other issues with brake switches.

Thanks for the PM by the way. I'm about ready to pull the trigger.

When I did my hydroboost I used the F450 peddle with the 1 5/16 master cylinder and the feel is great. Very little movement of the peddle and the brakes are working. Remember you are doubleing the line pressure when you do this modification. The stock vacuum brakes have around 1100 lbs of advantage and the hydroboost has around 2200 lbs.

i think this is the absolute best way to perform the swap.just as Gary (and myself) did.the 100% f450 parts.
the hydro unit w/ lines, the ps pump res for return, the master and the pedal.
imho,it isn't correct with the pickup pedal nor master.

Ok there have been some questions on what the pedal differences are and if the f450 pedal is needed for the swap. As I stated way back in this post the pin is infact in a different location. I moved my pin to the same location as the 450 pedal was and my pedal was WAY too high as you can see in the pic. Here are pics of the differences, as you can see the 450 pedal assembly has its own bracket that it is riveted to. The F350 pedal has a larger diameter pin pivot and bolts to the aluminum dash bracket. The 350 pedal is slightly longer than the 450 but you can see in the pics if you line them up from the bottom, the pins are in the same spot. What this tells me is that the 450 pedal has a different location because it is mounted at a different height than the 350 pedal. In my case the factory pedal worked fine....in my 94 F350. Now other trucks vary depending on the transmission and year. Both the pedals shown are from OBS trucks. I hope this clears up some confusion.

Refering the pics Ironman03R just posted… You used the 450 pedal (with it's bracket) and also the bigger master cylinder? Did you need to change the proportioning valve? I have rear drums and don't have disks or a SD axle in the plans.

Thanks for the help!

i have the auto trans (E40D) in my 9th gen (1993) f250/chip truck.the one i did the conversion to.
i used the pickups master and the pickups brakes pedal.
i hated it.hated it.hated it.did i say i hated it? it sucked and it sucked hardcore.i knew with every once of my being something wasn't right.at the time i didn't own log truck (my f450) to compare brake pedals with.finally it became known (here on this forum) that the brake pedals were in fact different and the person posted pics to prove so.
you couldn't imagine after a few years with an extremely hard brake pedal (due to using the improper pickups brake pedal) how excited i was to learn this! i couldn't find me an auto trans f450 brake pedal fast enough!:D when i did it was a major,major,major,major.....did i say major? upgrade in driver comfort.
with the auto pedal, there is no need to swap brackets.the pedal swaps right over.

then to top it off,i then read how Gary say's he liked the f450's master,so i swapped this out as well and imho that's also much more matched to the system even though im running the oem f350 DRW brake drum setup.

these are my results with the f250 to f350 drw convert (retaining d50 front) hydroboost, using the partial swap (pickup auto pedal and master) to then using the complete f450's system.

as you can see,my experiences differ from Ironman's above who sports the manual trans.
edit: hold the phone......he sports the auto trans too.....well ok.i dunno man.our experiences are much different and i don't have a clue why.LOL

it was my understanding that the auto brake pedal mounts between the pickup and f450 where identical, the pedals were identical between the two save for the pin locations.apparently not??? :dunno
so i simply bolted the auto pedal into the pickups mount and i then no longer had a brake pedal that required the leg of body builder to push down on.
i can tell ya the brake pedal does still to be easier in the f450 than it does the pickup.....however the pickup now is "right" just the same where before i knew it was "wrong, wrong, wrong" lol.i just thought the f450's was a bit easier to push due to rear discs but i don't claim to fully understand it all 100% yet.

Ok, to clarify my truck is and E4OD. Both pedals pictured are from E4OD trucks, one was a 92 f250 4x4 the other was a 95 F-superduty both trucks were 460/E4OD.
When I did my conversion I kept the F350 MC and modified my pedal to the same specs as the F-superdytuy pedal and as you can see from the pic it was way too high. I have no complaints on the way my setup works.
