How to change the rod on clutch master cylinder???

How do you cahange that rod that comes out of the clutch master cylinder??? Replaced the lever that clips in to the rod yesterday but want to change the rod now, Cant see you just pulling it out??

in short....you don't.
there's a three finger spring clip in there that holds the rod in. I've gotten past the fingers once with a ball point pen body and removed the rod. took two hours but I was broken down on the side of the road. I had nothing else better to do at that point. the parts house has a new assy for $45. If that option was available at the moment, I would have jumped on it.

use a fuel filter clip tool to push in those tabs and allow the rod to come out
