How long should batteries last?

I got one dead battery, less than 4 years old, is that normal?

Ive seen batteries last for 12 years and my last batteries lasted a year so not too sure depends on what conditions the battery is put threw and who makes emm ive had good luck with interstate an had good luck with Walmart ever start about 4 years with those and the interstate around 6 in different vechicals I had the ever start in my truck and now I got interstate in there so will see

there are a lot of variables to look at for battery life, but with the batteries of today, 4 years is about right. what type of battery is it? were both changed at the same time? have they been discharged and let sit for a while?

I Bought the truck about a year and half ago, so I'm not sure how the PO drove it. Both batteries are die hards and had the same date sticker on them.

In a perfect world batteries should last as long as the warranty is. But most batteries get run down and never properly recharged. A trip across town won't recharge a low battery so then they get sulfated and die. Temperature also has an effect on battery life. I live in the SoCal desert and 3 years is average for a battery here.

I have A/C Delco Group 31's in my truck, they have a 80 month warranty and cost me $108 each in Feb.......

I'll let you know in a few years if they last through the warranty period

I put a battery tender on mine since I only drive like 5k a year to hopefully get some more time with mine

What part of the desert are you in?

I have Interstates on my truck, and amazingly enough, they're on their 11th year now I have no idea how they've lasted this long, especially since my truck sits so much...I guess I've just been lucky?

I have Interstates in my truck also. There on thier 9th year, starting to crank a little slower thou. Im sure i'll have to replace them when it gets cold again.

Costco has a three year warranty, so at least if go south fast I'll be in good shape.
