I’ve seen people talk about the hood cowl seal piece and am thinking about replacing it on my 88 f250. Think someone mentioned they got one on LMC and for $20 might beat making my own. But the lmc site says theirs fits 80-86, is this also compatible with brick nose 7.3?

Am pretty sure it’s compatible based on the ‘80-‘96 window and door seal kit here, it includes the same cowl unit as individual above

Nice wasn’t familiar with Steele rubber supply. Doesn’t seem to be in their system but now that I’m looking for it rock auto seems to have it, the one for the 7.5L/460cc looks the same as the 7.3

I highly doubt there's any difference pertaining to the engines.

With the 87 and newer, where the Windshield Wiper motor is, the Cowel panel has a curved section, to clear the Motor, where 80 - 86 does not.

I swapped out the one on y 86 with some garage door seal. When screwing it down, wondered why the bump, and didn`t lay flat.

I had swapped in a Panel from a 87 that has the small holes compared to the long slots the 80 - 86 have. Took me a bit to finally figure it out.

There are a lot of Threads on the Cowel seal.
One guy used this garage door seal, so I bought it and installed it.

Here is a good thread on the cowel seal.

Here is how the door seal looks.

He mentions here RTV didn`t stick to well, and used ...
Black jack Super Flash Neoprene Flashing Cement #99 between the seal and Cowel.

When I did mine, I cut off the top old rubber and used the lower part against the new seal. it is metal, and used some longer screws.
Seals the Cowel very well.
