Hello, I have a friend with a 2001 Cummins w/ 4" exhaust. After running it hard, he got in it the next day and it has no power (about 50%). He removed the Power Puck non-adjustable programer, replaced the fuel filter, checked all turbo boots and clamps, but still no luck. Turbo sounds like it is working and the hoses have pressure, but he has not checked the boost yet (how much boost should a stock setup have?) There is no check engine light on. Any help? Only has 53,000 miles on it and has always ran strong.

Stock the truck should make about 18psi or so. The CEL may not be on and there still may be a problem. Get him to pull the codes using the instrument cluster and that may shed some light on the subject.

may also have lost the infamous fuel delivery pump (lift pump) ...some vp44 trucks get real weak when the fuel delivery system craps out.........some dont but in the end they all die
