My 86 has had next to nothing for airflow from the vents since I bought the truck. Had the blower motor fail so replaced that, cleaned out all vents hoping I'd just find a mouse nest blocking air flow but was fairly clean, and I checked the blend doors to make sure they were working properly. I changed the blower motor resistor because high speed put out less air than our 87 F150 does on low, didn't help at all so temporarily hardwired a toggle switch so I can get full speed out of the blower motor for the beautiful almost constant -40 temps we've had all winter. So I need to get a new switch but after seeing a few other bullnose fords with the same problem, my 86 F150 heating system performs even worse than my F250, is there a better motor I can install? I'm picking up another 86 f250 which apparently has same issue as well so I will need to fix that one too. Help I'm sick of freezing driving over 100km daily just to get to work!

I've seen people mention the Town car blower, IIRC.

I know my 94 will burn me outta the cab.

Anyone know if the blower motors from newer trucks will fit? Cause my 87 & 94 f150's put out great and I have the 94 parked right now as I gather parts and look for a donor IDI to drop in to make it a mud/hunting truck so I could always put it in my 86 to see if it helps, only problem is its an hour away at the farm and sitting in a 6ft snow bank so I don't want to deal with that unless there's a good chance it will work

Heater core was flushed, I have good heat. On the warmer winter days the truck roasts me usually need to turn fan off or crack the window. But when it gets colder like it is now at a brisk -41 outside it just doesn't cut it. I'm trying to find a higher rpm motor and/or more aggressive fan if possible.

Yes I have a grill cover, temperature stays where it should and does blow hot air, only enough to warm my fingers if held over the vent. I even used my scope to look around as much of the heater core before and after flushing but it looked better than the one in my 87 f150 that you can open the windows down the highway and still be warm

When the blower is on high, the motor gets power through the relay to provide full battery power, so a bad switch won't cause a slow high speed. It could be a bad relay or connection somewhere, maybe even the ground. Check for power and ground with the blower running with a voltmeter. Also, when you flush the heater core it is possible that only some of the tubes are flowing. Since the heater core is easy to replace in our trucks you may consider that.

I had this problem with a old 1980 gas truck I used to have, and after I cleaned all the pencils and junk out of the defroster vents, it worked better, but what really helped it was taking the A/C box apart and putting a different A/C evaporator coil in it. The original looked like it had mud plastered on it. I guess when it used to work it would get moisture on it, and then dirty air coming in would stick to it.

That is, if you have a A/C truck. If you don't use and don't want the A/C, I believe I read on one of these boards that a later model non-A/C truck plenum can be used to eliminate the A/C box, but still keep the heater core behind the glovebox.
