Heading To The "Valley" Tomorrow

I'm planning on a trip over the pass tomorrow to deliver some hardwood flooring to my grandpa, so I'm trying to find out if anyone needs any parts on my way over. I just finished stripping my parts truck, so I have pretty much anything that someone may need right down to a rebuildable 6.9L engine. I already plan on stopping by typ4's to buy a fuel return line set for my truck, so I can make other stops on the way there and/or on the way back here. I'm planning on leaving here between 3:30pm-5:00pm tomorrow and will be arriving near Portland about 8:30pm-9:00pm. I will be heading back this way on Sunday. I still need to make a few calls to arrainge for a place to stay (I have family in the area), but at this point it is a for sure trip. Make it over and back home safely. Averaged 15 mpg on the way over. Got 17.6 mpg from Beaverton to Newberg, back to Beaverton, and south to Albany (65mph @ 2,900 rpms with 4.10 gears, C6, and 35" tires too). I haven't figured out my mpg from Albany to Bend yet. Thank you punkmechanic for the ATF and fuel level sending units, and thanks typ4 for the fuel return kit (I will get the money order sent out this week). Truck ran great, but I was having "power surges" a couple times almost like sucking air or something. It'd only happen going up hills with over 6 psi of boost. I figured it out as I came into Bend. My throttle is sticking a little bit and was still "applying throttle" even when I let off the pedal. I'm going to clean up the linkage, oil it, and install a new return spring so I don't end up having a "runaway" on me. I gotta head to work in about 3 hours, so I'm heading to bed.

Hey Kenneth my truck did that when I first got it a few times and you can imagine it scared the crap outta me! I think either the throttle cable is not long for this world or at least it and the linkage need to be lubed with something like some grahphite...good luck, it's nothing more than that.

Yeah, it was a little scary to be half way up a grade building boost and even though I let off the throttle it would still keep boosting and picking up speed. I didn't realize what was going on until I was starting out at the first light coming into Bend. I stood it down and when I let off the throttle it kept going. I had to use the brakes to idle it back down. I thought about letting the other half drive the last bit of the trip back and into Bend, but the sticking throttle would have freaked her out completely.

DO You have a fuel pressure gauge? If this happens going up hill it could be something else.

No fuel pressure gauge yet. I'm going to change the fuel filters too just to be on the safe side. I'm going to get the new return lines installed to fix my fuel leak and install an electric pump as a backup incase the mechanical pump is acting up.
