Ok fellas. Most of you know that I made some head studs for my 7.3IDI turbo. I sent off some studs for testing and they got lost in the mail uninsured. More recently I found better way to cut the threads. I did cut the threads on my studs and they feel just as good if not better than the broken rolled studs I had. So anyways I sent in 2 studs for a pull to failure test. One test will be with the threads screwed in and another will be just a material test to make sure its good. I talked to the lab today and in the next week they should get to them. This semester at school has been killer, but only a few weeks left so maybe I can finalize the verdict on these. I will post up as soon as I get the results. It was a major pain with me being away from home at school and trying to make more studs to get testing on. I cant work on my truck until summer anyways so I was less than motivated. Now only 3 more weeks left so I will get somewhere with this.

Soooo...why not just get a set of studs that are already available? Is the the satisfaction of doing it yourself? Or will they be stronger? Cheaper? Or all of the above? Not trying to make fun, just wondering?

me too!
If all goes well they should be far stronger than ARP studs and not break like past studs that have been produced by other company's. I spent 675.00 on a set of studs and never got to start my truck. You know what I got.......not a damn thing besides broken off studs in my block and unanswered replacements or refund! The motor to this day has never even had fuel in the fuel pump. I just decided to build my own and finish my truck the right way.

Yeah, I would like a update too. Rolled threads are stronger than cut threads, so I don't see cut threads working out. Just my .02!
