Guage Readings

Last weekend I finally took care of a couple of small projects I have been planning.
1-Fuel return lines. The kit I bought of ebay was really good especially for $25
2-Installed Pyro and Boost Guages.
3-Mocked up Cold air pipe

Here is what I have observed. Driving unloaded on country roads @55mph I see about 500-600 degrees on pyro. The max boost I have been able to achieve is 6p.s.i. From what I have read these readings seem average for not having turned up my pump.

The intake is basically just 3" pvc W/ 1-90 st. ell and 1-45 st.ell. Moved my washer reservoir tight up against the inner fender and removed my coolant surge tank. Still decicing what to do about that but for now around town I just dont have one. I have a high flow air filter cone sitting behind the battery. Thought I would try this for a while then I plan to move the filter through the core support and locate it between my grill and condensor. It fits I just didnt have the time or pipe to put it there. I wanted to use 4" pvc but it rubs on everything and was too tough to tie away from stuff and besides I could not get it through the core support. Any Ideas

in your post you said 600 psi of boost, i think you mean 6psi

lol you going to try to get some more out of it?, it is a 7.3 right? if so 15 psi is about the max safe level, as long as you egt's dont go crazy,

Yeah it is a 7.3. I am slowly working up to getting more out of it. I think I have a good start. I am definately going to do something diff about my intake as I think it is limiting my airflow a little. I am going to get some metal flex like you used but I want to put my cone filter on the end instead of a collector up to my stock airfilter. I am gonna turn my pump up one flat this weekend then if I want to I will turn it up another in a week.

Here is what I did to my 90 truck. Used aluminum dryer vent the longest I could get so I didn't have to stretch it, gives it a smooth inside then. Used a 3" X 4" PVC reducer at the intake, and 2 little tabs one on each side to fasten it, put a 1/4" bead of RTV on the end and let harden, that seals it to the intake . Used a dryer vent 4" X 90* at each end. Got the cone filter at Azone. punched two 2" holes thru rad support. Wrapped the vent tube with sound material and held that on with aluminum 4" wide sticky tape. Increased my MPG by 3 MPG. Had it off and on so many times, thats why the black tape, ran out of alum tape.

anything is better than stock, some prefer open element, i prefera ram-air intake setup

I have some ideas of what I want to do just researching in materials that people use so that I only have to do it once. Although it is a daily driver this truck has definately become a hobby for me.
