Just installed a new set of Beru glow plugs. How long should they be cycled on for a cold start. With the old set,I normally cycled them about 15 seconds with the manual switch,is this about right for a new set?

I haven't timed it, but I'd guess that on a cold start mine cycle for 15-20 seconds. All are fairly new (<5k miles) Berus.

To me, that seems like a long time. One key thing is to crank the engine WHILE the glow plugs are on. Otherwise you have to heat the GP's a lot more to compensate for them cooling down as soon as the intake air hits them.

I will normally hold the GP's on for about 8 seconds, then crank the engine with the GP's still held on. As soon as it starts, I let off then after about 10 seconds, I will re-apply GP's for about 5 seconds to give after-glow.
