I'm looking for parts sources for my next project on the truck. I want to change the gears (front and rear) to 4.56:1's, and add a gv over/under unit, giving me 4.56 low end and 3.65 high end, but I'm having trouble finding gears for my front end.

Heath gave me the idea of adding a gearvendors UNDERDRIVE to the 4:10's as I wouldn't mind more gear as well. Would that be a viable option for you? I haven't crunched the numbers to see the exact differences.

I really like the Gear Vendors behind my BTS E4OD trans. I have 8 forward gears to choose from now... Sometimes I use every one of them for giggles getting on the freeways. If you have the gv behind a zf 5 speed then you have 10 forward gears...

It would be a viable option, but I like the idea of the 4.56/3.65 over a 4.10/5.10... I don't feel like I haul THAT heavy, and would like to see a little less rpm at highway speed than I do now. I think the 4.56/3.65 would offer the grunt and efficiency I want for loaded/unloaded performance.

How fast do you have to be going for the gv to engage in first gear?
