ok I'm sure it is on here somewhere but I can't seem to find anything.
I have a 96 and it is an automatic. the gear shifter has a lot of slop in it and seems to be getting worse. can someone shed some light on this for me. is it a problem up by the steering wheel or down under the truck?
Thanks.

There should be a steel lever bolted to the bottom of the shift tube at the base of the steering column. It is held on with two small machine screws and are bad to loosen up. I usually put them back with a dose of blue loctite. I think they are a number 30 star bit.
