fuel/water separator

how do you think a fuel/water separator mouted on the frame would work instead of the filter (thats always in the way) over the valve cover

You could mount it down there, but add shutoff valves, so when you go the change it you don't get a diesel bath. I mean, unless you like that sort of thing! And try to find a location where it's got some protection from rocks and crap. Don't need to get a hole in it.

you might have a problem bleeding out air though unless you have an ele pump.

anyone know where to find a shut off valve that would go inline of the hose iv got 3/8

Just use a brass gate valve from any hardware store. Lots of sizes to choose from and simple to install.

It would make it easier for sure. If you changed the filter and left the "output" valve shut off, you could turn the pump on and bleed the filter of any air. Then turn the valve on and there shouldn't be much if any air in the system.

yeah i had a simler setup on my 6.2L and it worked great. i'm goin to try it on my truck

I did this, works good, I plumbed the return through a restrictor into the tank return that way air is always blown out. Especially good on vans where you can't see the filter normally.
